The Pennsylvania Language Access Plan is a plan that was developed to ensure that all state and local entities in Pennsylvania have the resources to provide effective communication access to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals. This plan includes both short-term and long-term initiatives to ensure that state and local entities are able to effectively communicate with individuals who are not fluent in English. The plan includes the following: 1. A comprehensive language access policy development process for state and local entities. 2. Professional development and training for state and local public sector employees. 3. Technical assistance and resources to help state and local entities create, implement, and maintain language access plans. 4. Strategic partnerships with language service providers to ensure access to language services and interpreters. 5. Monitoring and evaluation of language access services. The Pennsylvania Language Access Plan is divided into two sections: the Language Access Plan for State Entities and the Language Access Plan for Local Entities. The plan for state entities applies to all state agencies, departments, and offices, while the plan for local entities applies to all local governments and their related entities. By implementing the Pennsylvania Language Access Plan, state and local entities can ensure that they are providing effective communication access to their LEP populations.
