A Pennsylvania Civil Motion for Continuance is a legal document filed in Pennsylvania courts that requests a postponement (or continuance) of a civil trial. This type of motion is commonly used when a party or their attorney need more time to prepare for their case. Generally, the motion must be filed at least 10 days before the trial date, and the court may grant or deny the request based on the merits of the case. There are two types of Pennsylvania Civil Motion for Continuance. The first is an emergency motion for continuance, which may be granted when a party or their attorney can demonstrate that an emergency situation has made it impossible to prepare for trial on the original date. The second is a non-emergency motion for continuance, which may be granted if the party or their attorney can demonstrate that they need additional time to properly prepare for trial.
