Pennsylvania ACT 137 CBG Housing Rehabilitation Assistance (215.8 KiB) is a program funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DIED) that provides financial assistance to local governments, non-profit organizations, and private developers for the rehabilitation of distressed and vacant housing. The program is available to eligible households in Pennsylvania that are low- to moderate-income and have inadequate housing conditions. The program helps reduce the number of substandard housing units by providing grants and low-interest loans to repair and improve dwellings. The program offers three different types of assistance: (1) Single-Family Rehabilitation Loans, (2) Emergency Repair Grants, and (3) Rental Rehabilitation Loans. Single-Family Rehabilitation Loans are for owner-occupied dwellings and provide up to $35,000 for repairs and improvements. Emergency Repair Grants provide up to $5,000 to cover urgent repairs for owner-occupied dwellings. Rental Rehabilitation Loans provide up to $50,000 to cover repairs and improvements for rental properties. All three programs require that all work be done in accordance with local building codes and the Pennsylvania Housing Quality Standards.
