The Pennsylvania 17th Congressional District Reapportionment Plan (119.6 KiB) is a document that outlines the new boundaries of the 17th Congressional District of Pennsylvania following the 2020 United States Census. The plan was released by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on February 19th, 2021. The plan was the result of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's decision to draw their own congressional district maps after the Republican-controlled General Assembly failed to submit a plan for approval. The plan divides Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District into two separate districts; a western district that follows the traditional 17th Congressional District boundaries and an eastern district that is made up of parts of the former 9th and 10th Congressional Districts. Under the plan, the 17th District will be represented by a Republican and the new eastern district will be represented by a Democrat. The Pennsylvania 17th Congressional District Reapportionment Plan (119.6 KiB) is a detailed document that outlines the new district boundaries, population demographics and voting rights for the 17th Congressional District. The plan is divided into two separate plans; Plan A and Plan B. Plan A is the preferred plan of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and is the plan that will be enacted unless the Pennsylvania General Assembly can come up with an alternative plan that meets the requirements of the court. Plan B is an alternative plan that was included with the document as a backup in the event that the General Assembly is unable to submit an alternative plan.
