Pennsylvania Household Hazardous Waste Fact Sheet (358.7 KiB) is a document put together by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). It provides information about the safe disposal of household hazardous waste (HOW) in Pennsylvania. The document is divided into three parts: Types of HOW, Disposal Options, and Additional Resources. The Types of HOW section describes the different types of hazardous waste that can be found in the home, such as paint, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, and other materials. It includes a list of symbols and descriptions of each type of waste, as well as a list of hazardous materials that are not accepted for disposal in Pennsylvania. The Disposal Options section provides information about the different ways to dispose of HOW in Pennsylvania, such as bring centers, collection events, mail-back programs, and recycling. It also includes information about the proper packaging and labeling of HOW for disposal. The Additional Resources section provides links to further information about HOW disposal. It includes information about the Pennsylvania Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Act, as well as links to the DEP websites, HOW collection events, and county-run HOW programs. There are two main types of Pennsylvania Household Hazardous Waste Fact Sheet (358.7 KiB): the online version and the printed version. The online version is available for download and includes all the information listed above, while the printed version is a limited edition booklet.
