A Pennsylvania Order is a type of court order issued in the state of Pennsylvania. It is a legally binding order that can be used to protect an individual or a group of people from harassment or threats. A Pennsylvania Order can be issued to stop contact from another person, to prevent someone from entering a particular location or to keep someone away from another person (an order of protection). Pennsylvania Orders are typically issued by a judge in family court, a magisterial district judge or the court of common pleas. There are four main types of Pennsylvania Orders: a Temporary Protection Order, a Final Protection Order, an Emergency Protection Order and an Interim Protection Order. A Temporary Protection Order is issued to provide immediate protection to an individual from an abuser. A Final Protection Order is issued after a full hearing and provides long-term protection. An Emergency Protection Order is issued when a person is in immediate danger and provides short-term protection. An Interim Protection Order is issued between a Temporary and Final Protection Order and provides limited protection.
