Pennsylvania Precise For Judgment is a form used by a winning party in a civil court case in Pennsylvania to request a judgment and the award of damages from the court. The Precise is filed with the Prothonotary of the court, and upon acceptance, a notice of judgment is issued by the court and served upon the defendant. There are two types of Pennsylvania Precise For Judgment: General Precise For Judgment and Precise For Judgment Based On Default. A General Precise For Judgment is used when the defendant has been served with the lawsuit and has responded. A Precise For Judgment Based On Default is used when the defendant has not responded to the lawsuit. Both types of Precise require the plaintiff to provide the Prothonotary with the information necessary to complete the Precise, including the name and address of the defendant, the amount of damages being sought, and the cause of action.
