Pennsylvania Objections to Nomination Petitions — Primary Election, May 152018,18 is a process where a voter or a registered political committee can file an objection to a candidate’s nomination petition if they feel the candidate has not followed proper rules and regulations. This process is in place to ensure that all candidates for public office comply with all applicable laws and regulations. There are two types of Pennsylvania Objections to Nomination Petitions — Primary Election, May 15, 2018. The first is a “General Objection” which can be filed by any voter or registered political committee against any candidate who is running for office in the primary election. A General Objection can include any allegation that a candidate has failed to comply with the rules and regulations of the relevant election. The second type of Pennsylvania Objection to Nomination Petitions — Primary Election, May 152018,18 is a “Specific Objection”. A Specific Objection can only be filed by a voter or registered political committee against a single candidate who is running for office in the primary election. The Specific Objection must include a detailed description of the alleged violation of applicable rules and regulations. Objections to Nomination Petitions must be filed with the appropriate office or board of elections within fifteen days of the candidate filing their nomination petition.
