Pennsylvania ARD Petition is a program offered by the Pennsylvania court system to allow individuals charged with certain criminal offenses to participate in an alternative rehabilitation program, which will ultimately result in the dismissal of their charges. Through the ARD Petition, individuals can avoid a criminal conviction and receive an immediate resolution to their case. The types of Pennsylvania ARD Petition available include: ARD Pre-Trial Diversion, Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD), and ARD Expungement. ARD Pre-Trial Diversion allows for individuals to receive a sentence of probation before any trial takes place, with the potential for the charges to be dropped if the terms of the probation are completed successfully. Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) is a form of probation that allows an individual to have their charges dismissed upon successful completion of the terms of probation. Lastly, ARD Expungement is a form of petition which allows individuals to have their charges expunged from their record after the completion of their probationary period.
