Pennsylvania Application For Involuntary Emergency Examination And Treatment (PA MEET) is an application provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services for individuals in need of emergency mental health services. The application is used to initiate the process to have the individual admitted to a mental health facility on an involuntary basis. The application is completed by the petitioner, the individual in need of the emergency services, or their legal representative and must be submitted to a county mental health administrator or county court. There are two types of PA MEET: Initial Application and Renewal Application. The Initial Application is used to initiate the emergency admission process and is valid for up to 15 days. The Renewal Application is used to extend the admission and is valid for up to 30 days. Both applications require that the petitioner provide detailed information about the individual in need of emergency services, including their mental health diagnosis and history, current behavior, and any risk of harm to self or others.
