The Pennsylvania Child Support Lien Affidavit (CSA) is a legal document filed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) to enable it to collect child support from a non-custodial parent. The CSA is a legal tool used to secure a lien against the non-custodial parent’s property, including real estate, vehicles, bank accounts, and other assets. The lien allows the DHS to collect the unpaid child support before other creditors and liens are paid. There are two types of Pennsylvania Child Support Lien Affidavits: a standard CSA and a Special CSA. A standard CSA is filed in the county where the non-custodial parent resides, while a Special CSA is filed in the county where the child is currently living. Both types of affidavits require the non-custodial parent to provide information about their financial assets and liabilities, and the amount of child support that is owed. The lien will remain in place until the child support arrears are paid in full.
