The Rhode Island Tax Payer Status Affidavit is a form used by Rhode Island taxpayers to declare their status as a resident, non-resident, or part-year resident of the state, for the purpose of filing taxes. The form is used to determine the proper tax filing status and is required for the filing of any Rhode Island income tax return. There are two types of Rhode Island Tax Payer Status Affidavits: The Resident Tax Payer Status Affidavit and the Non-Resident/Part-Year Resident Tax Payer Status Affidavit. The Resident Tax Payer Status Affidavit is used by taxpayers who have resided in the state for all or part of the tax year. The Non-Resident/Part-Year Resident Tax Payer Status Affidavit is used by taxpayers who have not been a resident of the state for all the tax year. Both forms require the taxpayer to provide information such as their name, address, Social Security number, and dates of residency in Rhode Island.
