A Rhode Island District Court Notice of Appeal is a document that initiates the appeal process in the Rhode Island District Court. It is a formal request to the court to review a case that has already been decided in a lower court. There are two types of Rhode Island District Court Notice of Appeal: a Notice of Appeal from a final judgment and a Notice of Appeal from an interlocutory order. The Notice of Appeal must be filed within 30 days of the entry of the judgment or order in the lower court. The Notice of Appeal must include the names of the parties, the date of the judgment or order, and the case number. The Notice of Appeal must also include the errors the appellant believes were made in the lower court’s decision. The Notice of Appeal must be signed by the appellant or his/her attorney and must be accompanied by a request for transcript or a statement of the evidence and proceedings.
