The Rhode Island Affidavit in Support of Complaint for Civil Protective Order When Either Party is a Juvenile is a legal document used to request a civil protective order from the court when either party involved in a domestic violence or harassment situation is under the age of 18. This affidavit is used by the victim or their parent or guardian to request a court order that will protect the juvenile from future harm. The affidavit must be signed by the person filing the complaint and is typically accompanied by supporting documents such as police reports, medical records, and/or reports from social service agencies. There are two types of Rhode Island Affidavit in Support of Complaint for Civil Protective Order When Either Party is a Juvenile: the Temporary Protective Order (TPO) and the Permanent Protective Order (PPO). The TPO is an order that can be put in place to protect the juvenile for a period of time, while the PPO is a more long-term solution that lasts until the juvenile reaches the age of 18.
