Rhode Island Certification of Accounting is a professional certification program offered by the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants (RISCPT). It is a voluntary certification program that requires CPA's to demonstrate their knowledge and experience in the accounting profession. The program is based on the AICPA's Uniform CPA Examination and consists of two parts: the Business and Accounting Knowledge Exam (BAKE) and the Professional Ethics Exam (PEE). There are three types of Rhode Island Certification of Accounting: CPA-Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CPA-Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and CPA-Certified in Governmental Accounting (CGA). The CPA certification requires applicants to pass the BAKE and PEE exams, have a minimum of two years of professional accounting experience, and comply with the state's continuing education requirements. The CMA and CGA certifications require applicants to pass the BAKE exam and have a minimum of two years of professional accounting experience, but do not require the PEE exam or continuing education.
