South Carolina Carrie Standing Order Conduct Mediation is a process used in family court to help couples resolve issues outside of court. It is based off of the Carrie Standing Order which was established due to the backlog of family court cases. This mediation process is designed to help couples come to an agreement on issues such as child custody, visitation and support, division of property, etc. without going through a lengthy court process. There are two types of South Carolina Carrie Standing Order Conduct Mediation: court-ordered and voluntary. Court-ordered mediation involves a judge ordering the couple to attend mediation, while voluntary mediation is when the couple chooses to attend mediation. In either case, the mediation process begins with both parties attending a mediation session with a trained mediator. During the session, the mediator will discuss the issues and help the couple come to an agreement on how to resolve them. If an agreement is not reached in the mediation session, the couple may opt for further mediation or may take the case to court.
