A South Carolina Itemized Statement of Costs is a form used by attorneys to itemize the fees and costs associated with a legal case. This document is also known as a Notice of Attorney Fees and Costs. The Statement of Costs is used to inform a client of what they owe for legal services rendered. It typically includes items such as filing fees, court costs, expert witness fees, and attorney fees. Depending on the case, the Statement of Costs may also include costs for legal research, travel, and other related expenses. It may also list any payment arrangements that are made between the attorney and the client. There are two types of South Carolina Itemized Statements of Costs: the Contingency Fee Agreement and the Flat Fee Agreement. The Contingency Fee Agreement is typically used when the attorney’s compensation is based on the outcome of the case. The Flat Fee Agreement is used when the attorney’s fee is a fixed fee, regardless of the outcome of the case.
