The South Carolina Application for Appointment of Appraiser(s) is a form used to appoint an appraiser to assess the value of property for taxation purposes. This form is required for all appraisal requests made in South Carolina, and must be completed by the county assessor. There are two types of South Carolina Application for Appointment of Appraiser(s): a Residential Appraisal Application and a Commercial Appraisal Application. The Residential Appraisal Application is used to appoint an appraiser for residential properties, and requires information such as the physical address of the property, the owner's name, the parcel number, and other identifying information. The Commercial Appraisal Application is used to appoint an appraiser for commercial properties, and requires the same information as the Residential Appraisal Application, but may also require additional information, such as the business name and Tax Identification Number. Both applications require the county assessor's signature, and must be submitted to the appropriate county assessor's office.
