The South Carolina Affidavit of Due Diligence is a legal document used to establish that a person or entity has conducted reasonable research to determine whether a particular action is necessary and appropriate, and that the action taken is in accordance with the law. This document is typically used in a variety of situations, such as: verifying the accuracy of a document, confirming the identity of a person or entity, or researching a potential business partner. There are two types of South Carolina Affidavit of Due Diligence: General Affidavit of Due Diligence and Specific Affidavit of Due Diligence. A General Affidavit of Due Diligence can be used for any type of research, and includes a broad statement attesting to the research conducted. A Specific Affidavit of Due Diligence includes a more detailed statement, providing information about the specific research undertaken. In addition, the Specific Affidavit of Due Diligence must be signed by the person conducting the research.
