The South Carolina Petition for Protective Order and/or Appointment of Conservator (Mandatory) is a legal document used to request court-ordered protection for a vulnerable adult. The petition can be used to apply for a protective order, which is a court order that restricts an abuser’s access to the vulnerable adult, or to request the appointment of a conservator, which is a court-appointed individual who is responsible for managing the vulnerable adult’s finances or other affairs. The South Carolina Petition for Protective Order and/or Appointment of Conservator (Mandatory) can be used in cases of abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment, or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult. The petition must include information about the vulnerable adult, their alleged abuser, and the alleged abuse. The petition must also include a statement of facts and any evidence supporting the request. There are two types of South Carolina Petitions for Protective Order and/or Appointment of Conservator (Mandatory): one type is for emergency protection, and the other is for long-term or permanent protection. The emergency petition is used when a vulnerable adult is in immediate danger and requires protection from an abuser, while the long-term/permanent petition is used when a vulnerable adult needs protection for an extended period of time.
