The South Carolina Petition for Acceptance of Guardianship and/or Adult Conservatorship (Mandatory) is a legal document that must be filled out and filed with the probate court in order to establish a legal guardianship or conservatorship for an adult in the state of South Carolina. This document is used to appoint an individual or an entity to oversee the day-to-day affairs of an adult who is unable to do so for themselves. The document outlines the individual or entity who will be appointed as guardian or conservator, as well as the powers and duties of the guardian or conservator. The document must be signed by the petitioner and the guardian or conservator in the presence of a notary public. There are two types of South Carolina Petition for Acceptance of Guardianship and/or Adult Conservatorship (Mandatory): Guardianship of the Person and Guardianship of the Estate. The Guardianship of the Person is used to appoint an individual or entity to make decisions on behalf of the adult in regard to their personal and medical needs. The Guardianship of the Estate is used to appoint an individual or entity to make decisions on behalf of the adult in regard to their financial matters.
