A South Carolina Request for Hearing is a legal document that can be filed with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) when a driver wants to challenge a traffic ticket or other suspension or revocation of driving privileges. The Request for Hearing form is available online and must be completed in full. Once completed, the form must be submitted to the DMV with any accompanying documents, such as a copy of the ticket or other documents that are requested by the DMV. The South Carolina DMV offers three types of Request for Hearings: 1. Administrative Hearing: This type of hearing is used to challenge a ticket, suspension or revocation of driving privileges that have been issued by the DMV. 2. Formal Hearing: This type of hearing is used to contest a traffic violation or the suspension or revocation of driving privileges. This type of hearing is conducted before a DMV Hearing Officer. 3. Summary Hearing: This type of hearing is used to contest a ticket that has been issued in the form of a citation. This type of hearing is conducted before a Magistrate or Municipal Court Judge. All of these types of Request for Hearing must be filed within 30 days of the date of the violation in order for the request to be considered.
