The South Dakota Amendment of Social Security Number and Notice of Amendment (local rules Appendix 1K) is a set of rules from the South Dakota Supreme Court which governs the amendment of Social Security Numbers in certain court proceedings. The rule provides procedures for how a party may submit and serve a Notice of Amendment to the Court and the opposing party, and also provides guidance on how to properly amend a Social Security Number in a document. There are two types of South Dakota Amendment of Social Security Number and Notice of Amendment (local rules Appendix 1K): one for civil proceedings and one for criminal proceedings. In both civil and criminal proceedings, if a party wishes to amend a Social Security Number in a document, the party must serve a Notice of Amendment on the opposing party prior to the amendment being made. The Notice of Amendment must include a description of the amendment being made and the reason for the amendment. Once the Notice of Amendment has been served on the opposing party, the party must then submit a copy of the Notice of Amendment to the Court. Once the Court has received the Notice of Amendment, the party may then amend the document in accordance with the amendment described in the Notice of Amendment.
