Tennessee Appearance of Counsel is a legal process whereby an attorney in one state can enter an appearance in the court of another state without having to obtain a license to practice law in the other state. This process is known as pro HAC vice admission. There are two types of Tennessee Appearance of Counsel: 1) Limited Appearance of Counsel: This type of appearance is when an attorney who is not licensed in Tennessee can enter an appearance on behalf of a client in a single case. This type of appearance can be used in a variety of civil matters, such as contract disputes and real estate transactions. 2) General Appearance of Counsel: This type of appearance is when an attorney who is not licensed in Tennessee can enter an appearance on behalf of a client in multiple cases. This type of appearance can be used in a variety of civil and criminal matters, including divorce proceedings, criminal defense cases, and civil appeals.
