The Tennessee Petition for Certificate of Employability is a document used by individuals with criminal records in the state of Tennessee to apply for a Certificate of Employability from the Tennessee Board of Parole. This Certificate of Employability will allow individuals with criminal records to be considered for employment by employers who are legally obligated to consider applicants with criminal records. There are two types of Tennessee Petition for Certificate of Employability: General Petition and Special Petition. A General Petition is used for individuals who have been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors and who have been discharged from parole or probation for at least five years. A Special Petition is used for individuals who have been convicted of certain misdemeanors and who have been discharged from parole or probation for at least three years. Both types of Petition require the applicant to provide basic information such as name, date of birth, contact information, criminal history, and any evidence of rehabilitation. The Petition must also be accompanied by the appropriate filing fee.
