The Tennessee Interview of Respondent or Caretaker (TIRE) is a structured clinical interview used to assess for the presence of psychopathology in children and adolescents. The TIRE is designed to assess the mental health of children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years old. It includes questions about a respondent's current functioning, as well as their past functioning and the functioning of their family. The TIRE is a semi-structured interview that uses both open-ended and closed-ended questions about a respondent's background and current functioning. It is designed to assess both the presence and severity of psychopathology, as well as the presence and severity of psychosocial stressors. The TIRE consists of five sections: Background Information, Current Status, Family Functioning, Stressors and Impairment, and Developmental History. The TIRE also includes psychometric scales to help measure the severity of symptoms. There are two versions of the TIRE: the Standard version and the Brief version. The Standard version is the full version of the TIRE and includes all five sections. The Brief version is a shortened version of the TIRE and does not include the Stressors and Impairment section.
