Tennessee EQUITY — Firearms Declaration is a form used to prove that the transfer of a firearm between parties is legal. It is a written record of the transaction and is used to ensure that all firearms owners are in compliance with Tennessee state laws. The form is required whenever a firearm is transferred in Tennessee, either within or outside the state. There are two types of Tennessee EQUITY — Firearms Declaration forms: the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit (HCP) form and the Tennessee Non-Permit Transfer form. The HCP form is used when the sale or transfer is between two individuals with Tennessee handgun carry permits. The Non-Permit Transfer form is used when the sale or transfer is between individuals who do not possess Tennessee handgun carry permits. Both forms must be completed and signed by the buyer and seller and must include the make, model, caliber, and serial number of the firearm being transferred.
