The Tennessee Notice of Income Assignment is a document issued by the Tennessee Department of Human Services to employers and businesses for the purpose of collecting unpaid child support payments. It is a legal document that requires employers and businesses to deduct child support payments from the earnings of the parent who is obligated to pay child support. The employer or business must withhold the payments as required by the Tennessee Notice of Income Assignment and send them directly to the Tennessee Department of Human Services. There are two types of Tennessee Notice of Income Assignment: the Standard Notice of Income Assignment and the Modified Notice of Income Assignment. The Standard Notice of Income Assignment requires the employer or business to withhold and send the entire amount of unpaid child support payments at the same time in each pay period. The Modified Notice of Income Assignment allows the employer or business to withhold and send the unpaid child support payments in installments over a period of time.
