Tennessee Dismissal of Order of Protection is a legal action which terminates a court-ordered protection order. This is a civil order that is issued in family law cases to protect a person from acts of domestic violence, stalking, harassment, or sexual assault. The protection order typically prohibits the respondent from making contact with the petitioner and/or other persons listed in the order. There are two types of Tennessee Dismissal of Order of Protection: voluntary dismissal and involuntary dismissal. A voluntary dismissal is when the petitioner requests that the protection order be dismissed and the court agrees. An involuntary dismissal is when the court dismisses the protection order based on the parties’ agreement or the petitioner’s failure to appear in court. The court must provide written notice to both parties that the order has been dismissed.
