Tennessee Dispossession of Firearm(s) refers to the process of selling or transferring a firearm from one person to another in the state of Tennessee. There are three main types of Tennessee Disposition of Firearm(s): private sale, gun dealer sale, and law enforcement disposal. In a private sale, an individual can sell or transfer a firearm to another individual as long as the recipient is a Tennessee resident and has a valid firearm permit. A bill of sale must be completed and signed by both parties in order to document the transaction. In a gun dealer sale, a person can purchase a firearm from a dealer as long as the buyer has a valid permit and the proper identification. The dealer will then conduct a background check on the buyer and process the required paperwork. In a law enforcement disposal, a person can turn in an unwanted or illegal firearm to local law enforcement. The firearm will then be destroyed or sold to a licensed firearms' dealer.
