Texas Request for Copies and or Search for Family and Civil Records is a service offered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSS) Vital Statistics Unit (VS). This service allows individuals to request copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce records, as well as search for family and civil court records. The records can be requested online, via mail, phone, or fax. Online requests can be made through the Texas.gov website. For mail, phone, or fax requests, individuals need to fill out and submit the Texas Request for Copies and/or Search for Family and Civil Records form. The different types of Texas Request for Copies and or Search for Family and Civil Records are: Birth Records: Certified copies of birth certificates can be requested, and the original certificate can also be searched for. Death Records: Certified copies of death certificates can be requested, and the original certificate can also be searched for.
