A Texas Order to Seize a Vessel is a court order issued by a Texas court that authorizes the taking of possession of a vessel. This legal document is used in maritime law to allow a creditor or other party to recover a vessel from a debtor or other person who owns or has possession of the vessel. The order is typically issued after a suit is filed in the court and allows for the vessel to be taken into custody until a judgment is made in the case. There are two types of Texas Orders to Seize a Vessel: an in rem order and an in personam order. An in rem order is issued against the vessel itself, and allows for the vessel to be taken into custody regardless of who has possession of it. An in personam order is issued against the person who owns or has possession of the vessel, and only allows for the seizure of the vessel if that person has possession of it.
