A Texas Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs or an Appeal Bond is a legal document used in court proceedings in the state of Texas which allows a person who is unable to pay court costs or an appeal bond to be waived of the fees. This statement is an affidavit signed by the person in question that states their financial inability to pay such costs or bond. There are two types of Texas Statements of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs or an Appeal Bond: 1) The Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs, and 2) The Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of an Appeal Bond. The Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs is used when a person cannot afford the initial court costs associated with a court hearing. The Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of an Appeal Bond is used when a person is unable to pay the bond associated with appealing a court decision. Both documents must be sworn in front of a notary public and must include information such as the person's income, assets, and debts.
