Texas Order for Child Custody Evaluation is a legal process that is used to determine the best interests of a child in a custody dispute. The evaluation process is usually conducted by a mental health professional or a court-appointed evaluator who is an expert in family dynamics and child development. The evaluator will consider the parents’ physical, mental, and emotional health, the child’s developmental needs, the parents’ ability to provide a safe and secure home environment, and the parents’ ability to cooperate in making custody and visitation decisions. The evaluator will also consider any history of abuse or neglect, the parents’ relationship with each other and with the child, the parents’ parenting styles, and the relationship between the child and each parent. There are two types of Texas Order for Child Custody Evaluation: Standard and Expedited. Standard evaluations are conducted over a period of several months and involve interviews with the parents, the child, and other individuals who may have relevant information. An Expedited evaluation is conducted more quickly and involves interviews with the parents and child only. Both types of evaluations result in a written report that includes recommendations for the custody and visitation arrangement that is in the best interests of the child.
