The Texas Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation is a document issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSS) to certify that a mold remediation project has been completed in accordance with the standards set forth by the DSS. It certifies that a mold remediation contractor has properly performed all the steps necessary to remove, contain, and dispose of mold from a residence or building. The document also verifies that all safety precautions and measures have been taken to protect the health of the occupants and that the building has been returned to its pre-mold condition. There are two types of Texas Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation: Class A and Class B. Class A certifications are issued when a contractor has removed at least 75 percent of the visible mold from the affected area and has taken measures to prevent the mold from returning. Class B certifications are issued when a contractor has removed at least 95 percent of the visible mold from the affected area and has taken measures to prevent the mold from returning.
