The Texas Certificate of Official Court Reporter is an official certification granted by the Texas Supreme Court to court reporters who have completed a state-approved program and achieved a passing score on the Registered Professional Reporter examination. This certification allows court reporters to provide transcripts of judicial proceedings for legal record-keeping purposes. There are three different types of Texas Certificate of Official Court Reporter: Certified Shorthand Reporter, Registered Professional Reporter, and Certified Electronic Reporter. Certified Shorthand Reporters must have completed a state-approved program and achieved a passing score on the Registered Professional Reporter examination. Registered Professional Reporters must have completed a state-approved program and achieved a passing score on the Certified Shorthand Reporter examination.
