The Texas Application To Employ As Special Litigation Counsel (TATERS) is an online application created by the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas. It allows applicants to apply to serve as Special Litigation Counsel in State of Texas civil litigation. It is used to submit applications for appointment to the Attorney General of the State of Texas, or the Associate Attorney General, as well as to the Chief State Counsel for Civil Litigation or the Senior Counsel for Civil Litigation. The TATERS consist of two types of applications: (1) the Appointment Application and (2) the Reappointment Application. The Appointment Application requires applicants to submit a cover letter, resume, and fee information, along with a summary of qualifications and a description of the specific litigation for which the applicant wishes to serve as Special Litigation Counsel. The Reappointment Application is used by reappointing attorneys who wish to be reappointed to the same litigation for which they have previously been appointed. The TATERS also includes several resources for applicants, such as eligibility requirements, guidance on completing the application, and FAQs. In addition, the TATERS includes a section that allows applicants to monitor the status of their applications, and a section that allows the Office of the Attorney General to review and update applicant information.
