The Texas Supplementary Report for Wiretaps Reported in Previous Calendar Years is a report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety that details the number of wiretaps reported in Texas in the previous year. This report divides the wiretaps into three categories: interception of wire, oral, and electronic communications; interception of cellular telephones; and interception of other communication devices. It also provides an overview of the status of each wiretap reported in the previous year, including: the filing date, the agency that filed the application, the date on which the wiretap was authorized, the interception period, the number of intercepted communications, the offenses investigated, the dispositions of the investigations, and the number of persons charged. In addition, the report also contains a section on wiretap statistics, which provides an analysis of the number of wiretaps reported in each type of communication device and offense investigated. The report also includes tables that summarize the number of wiretaps reported in the previous year broken down by the type of offense and communication device, as well as the total number of interceptions reported.
