Sponsor's Motion and Oath of Admission is a process in which a sponsoring organization or individual presents an immigrant to the court in order to apply for admission as a citizen of the United States. This process typically includes the sponsor providing evidence of eligibility, such as proof of legal residency or a valid passport, and filing a motion with the court. The sponsor must also take an oath that they are responsible for the immigrant’s well-being and that the immigrant has the resources to become a self-supporting member of the community. There are two types of Sponsor's Motion and Oath of Admission: Regular Motion and Oath of Admission and Affidavit of Support Motion and Oath of Admission. The Regular Motion and Oath of Admission is for immigrants who are not eligible for an Affidavit of Support. The Affidavit of Support Motion and Oath of Admission is for immigrants who are eligible for an Affidavit of Support, sponsored by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
