Options for filing the Appendix is a procedure that allows parties to a civil or criminal case to supplement the record with additional information. The procedure is authorized by Rule 10 of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure. There are three main types of options for filing the appendix: 1) Unilateral Appendices, 2) Joint Appendices, and 3) Supplemental Appendices. Unilateral Appendices are filed by one party to the case to supplement the record with additional information that the other party does not object to. The filing party must submit a certificate of service to the court stating that the other party was served with the filing. Joint Appendices are filed by both parties to the case to supplement the record with additional information. The filing party must submit a certificate of service to the court stating that the other party was served with the filing. Supplemental Appendices are filed by one party to the case to supplement the record with additional information that the other party objects to. The filing party must submit a motion for leave to file a supplemental appendix, along with a certificate of service to the court stating that the other party was served with the filing. The court may grant or deny the motion. If the motion is granted, the filing party may then submit the supplemental appendix.
