The Criminal Justice Act — Attorney Application (this form can be filled out and then printed) is used to apply to be appointed as a court-appointed attorney on a Criminal Justice Act (CJA) case. The application is an important part of the process of becoming an appointed CJA attorney. The application contains questions about the applicant’s experience and qualifications, including their education, bar membership, legal experience, and CJA experience. It also contains an authorization for the court to investigate the applicant’s background and to obtain information about the applicant from other sources. Once the application is completed and printed, it can be submitted to the court for consideration. There are two types of Criminal Justice Act — Attorney Application (this form can be filled out and then printed): 1. CJA-20 — Application for Appointment as a Court-Appointed Attorney on a CJA Case. 2. CJA-21 — Application for Reappointment as a Court-Appointed Attorney on a CJA Case.
