Chapter 13 Debtor's Certifications Regarding Domestic Support Obligations and Section 522(q) is a section of the Bankruptcy Code that requires debtors filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 13 to provide certain certifications with regard to their domestic support obligations (DSO's). The debtor must certify that: 1. They are current on all DSO's that were due and owing prior to the filing of the bankruptcy petition; 2. They are not in arrears on any DSO's; 3. Furthermore, they will remain current on all DSO's that become due after the filing of the bankruptcy petition; 4. Furthermore, they are not in arrears on any DSO's that become due after the filing of the bankruptcy petition; and 5. Any DSO's that become due after the filing of the bankruptcy petition will be paid as agreed. Section 522(q) of the Bankruptcy Code also requires that a debtor’s bankruptcy plan must provide for payment of all DSO's that are due and owing.
