A Scientific Advisory Board Agreement (SAGA) is a type of contract between a company and a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). It defines the responsibilities of the SAB members, the rights of the company, and the terms of the board's involvement. It can also provide the framework for the SAB's activities and decision-making process. Sagas can vary depending on the type of industry the company is in. Common components of Sagas include the scope of the SAB's duties and responsibilities; the expected roles of the members; the size and composition of the board; the terms of appointment and remuneration; the frequency and duration of meetings; and the methods for evaluating SAB performance. There are two main types of Sagas: those used in the pharmaceutical industry, and those used in the biotechnology industry. Pharmaceutical Sagas are typically more detailed and complex than biotechnology Sagas, as they must address issues such as intellectual property rights, confidentiality, and clinical trial regulations. Biotechnology Sagas are more focused on the strategic direction of the company and the development of new products.
