A Complaint for Violations of Fair Labor Standards is a document filed with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) by an employee or group of employees alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLEA). The FLEA is a federal law that sets the minimum wage and overtime pay standards, as well as regulating child labor, record keeping, and other employment conditions. There are two types of Complaint for Violations of Fair Labor Standards. The first type is a Wage and Hour Complaint, where an employee or group of employees allege violations of the FLEA's wage and hour provisions, such as minimum wage, overtime pay, or off-the-clock work. The second type is a Child Labor Complaint, which alleges violations of the FLEA's child labor provisions. These provisions include rules on the types of work a minor may perform, hours a minor may work, and the amount of pay a minor must receive. The Complaint for Violations of Fair Labor Standards must be filed with the Wage and Hour Division of the DOL, and must include the employee's name, the employer's name, and a detailed description of the alleged violations. The DOL will then investigate the complaint and, if necessary, take legal action against the employer.
