Aiding and Abetting: Using or Carrying and Possessing a Firearm is the act of assisting someone to commit a criminal offense involving a firearm. This can include providing the weapon to the perpetrator or helping them carry it before, during, or after the crime has been committed. There are two types of Aiding and Abetting: Using or Carrying and Possessing a Firearm: “Using” and “Possessing”. The “Using” type of Aiding and Abetting involves actively helping the perpetrator use the firearm during the commission of the crime. This could include helping to aim the gun, loading it, firing it, or otherwise enabling them to use the firearm in the commission of the crime. The “Possessing” type of Aiding and Abetting involves helping the perpetrator obtain or carry the firearm before, during, or after the crime has been committed. This could include providing the perpetrator with the gun, hiding it, or helping them transport it. This type of Aiding and Abetting is often seen when a person helps a perpetrator obtain a firearm in order to commit a crime. In both cases, the person providing assistance can be held criminally liable for the crime committed by the perpetrator.
