18 U.S.C. Sec. 1015(F) False Claim of Citizenship in Order to Vote is a federal law which prohibits individuals from knowingly and willfully making a false representation of their U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote or vote in any federal, state, or local election. This law applies to any individual who falsely claims to be a citizen of the United States in order to register to vote or cast a ballot in any election held in the United States. This law also applies to any individual who encourages or induces another person to falsely claim to be a U.S. citizen in order to register to vote or cast a ballot in any election held in the United States. Violations of 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1015(F) False Claim of Citizenship in Order to Vote are punishable by a fine, imprisonment for up to five years, or both. There are two types of violations of this law: (1) knowingly and willfully making a false representation of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote or cast a ballot, and (2) knowingly and willfully encouraging or inducing another person to falsely claim U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote or cast a ballot.
