8.33 Forging Endorsement on Treasury Check, Bond or Security of United States (18 U.S.C. Sec. 510(a)(1)) is a federal law that makes it illegal to forge signature, endorse, or alter a U.S. Treasury check, bond, or security. This crime is punishable by a fine and/or imprisonment. There are two types of 8.33 Forging Endorsement on Treasury Check, Bond or Security of United States (18 U.S.C. Sec. 510(a)(1)): 1. Falsifying Endorsement: This includes forging the signature of the payee of the check, bond, or security; falsely endorsing a check, bond, or security; or altering a check, bond, or security in any way without authorization. 2. Falsifying Alteration: This includes altering the amount of the check, bond, or security; altering the date of the check, bond, or security; or changing the terms or conditions of the check, bond, or security.
