18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001 is a federal law that prohibits any person from making any false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements or representations to any department or agency of the United States. This is commonly referred to as 8.73 False Statement to Government Agency (18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001). There are two types of 8.73 False Statement to Government Agency (18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001). The first type is making a false statement or representation to a government agency or department. This can include making false statements or representations in writing, orally, or through any other means. The second type is making a false statement or representation with the intent to avoid or evade any legal duty or obligation. This can include withholding information, making false statements, or omitting material facts. Both types of 8.73 False Statements to Government Agency (18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001) are punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both.
