Utah Sexual Abuse of a Child is a criminal offense committed against a minor under the age of 18. It includes any type of sexual contact or sexual conduct between an adult and a minor, or between two minors when one is in a position of authority over the other. Examples of sexual abuse include rape, sexual exploitation, molestation, incest, and sexual exploitation of a minor. There are three main types of Utah Sexual Abuse of a Child: Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, Sexual Exploitation of a Child, and Lewdness Involving a Child. Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child is defined as a sexual act committed against a minor with the intent to cause physical or psychological harm, or when the act is committed in a manner that is likely to cause harm. Sexual Exploitation of a Child includes using a minor for the purpose of producing pornography or other sexual material, or for sexual gratification. Lewdness Involving a Child includes engaging in any act of sexual gratification in the presence of a minor. All types of Utah Sexual Abuse of a Child are punishable by law and can result in severe penalties.
