The Utah Role of the Judge, Jury and Lawyers is to ensure that the legal process from trial to verdict is conducted fairly and justly. The role of the judge is to conduct a trial in accordance with the legal rules and procedures of the State of Utah. The judge is responsible for ensuring that all parties are given a fair hearing, that evidence is presented properly, and that the law is applied correctly. The judge has the authority to make rulings on motions, to determine whether evidence is admissible, and to instruct the jury on the law. The role of the jury is to listen to the evidence presented in court, weigh the evidence, and render a verdict based on the evidence. The jury is composed of impartial citizens and is the ultimate decision maker in a criminal or civil trial. The role of the lawyers is to represent their respective parties in court. The lawyers are responsible for preparing and filing legal documents, conducting legal research, interviewing witnesses, making arguments, and presenting evidence. They must also follow ethical rules and remain impartial and unbiased. Utah has two different types of lawyers: attorneys and public defenders. Attorneys are lawyers who represent clients in civil or criminal proceedings. Public defenders are lawyers who are appointed by the court to represent indigent defendants in criminal proceedings.
